Feed Your ACC-SEC Rivalry & Healthy Appetite
Charity tournament receives generous donations for lunch and dinner

The Third Annual ACC vs. SEC Alumni Golf Tournament may be six months away, but sponsors have already stepped-up to make sure the event on Monday. October 12th is successful. The event once again benefits, CASA, Inc. of Nashville. The returning Presenting Sponsor is AT&T while the Platinum Sponsor is the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl.

This event not only gives the winning conference bragging rights for an entire year, but more importantly supports the work of CASA, Inc. to serve child victims of abuse in our community.

Award winning Buffalo Trace Distillery from Frankfort, Kentucky will start the day off right when they fire up “The Beast”; their giant smoker grill that can cook dozens of buffalo burgers and chicken breasts at the same time. Besides the

awesome main courses, Buffalo Trace will bring all the fixin's and dessert to complete a hearty meal to get the golfers ready to uphold the honor of their conferences.

The ACC will be looking to defend the title they took from the SEC last year and having a great lunch could power them on to another victory. Alumni, friends and family will face off on both courses of the Hermitage Golf Club in Old Hickory, using The President's Reserve and The General's Retreat.

Buffalo Trace has also donated a valuable gift basket to be offered in the all-day Silent Auction.

Red Bull and their Wiiings Team will also be on hand passing out Energy Drinks and their new Red Bull Cola!

After completing their round on the links, golfers won't want to miss the product tasting Buffalo Trace will offer of their award-winning bourbon. When the tournament bar opens, plenty of Buffalo Trace Bourbon will be there for the sipping!

While enjoying the Buffalo Trace tasting, golfers will surely enjoy the aroma of their dinner being prepared by members of the Music City Chapter of the LSU Alumni Association. The appetite of even the hungriest golfer will be no match for the Louisiana Shrimp Boil that will be served soon after golfing is complete. The shrimp, flown in fresh from the Gulf of Mexico, and potatoes and corn combined in giant cooking pots will have golfers waiting in line for more!

The dinner feast will also accommodate those with a sweet tooth. Panera of Hermitage will offer an assortment of their delicious baked goods for golfers and guests to enjoy.

Tickets for guests are $20, but are limited. Golf fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early and help support the critical work of CASA, Inc. Visit the Official Tournament web site: www.accsec-golf4casa.org

The Nashville ACC-SEC Leadership Council (NASLC) thanks all of the food sponsors for making this event a true celebration of generosity and sportsmanship.

Invitation to Participate in the '09 Tournament

The 3rd annual ACC vs. SEC Alumni Golf Tournament is set for Monday, October 12, 2009 (Columbus Day), at the Hermitage Golf Course. This event is hosted by the Nashville ACC-SEC Leadership Council (NASLC) and benefits CASA, Inc. of Nashville.

The ACC and SEC conferences each have one victory from the first two annual charity golf events. You are invited to be a part of the 2009 tournament that will break the tie. The competition is friendly, fun and occasionally fierce; but the real winner is CASA, Inc. of Nashville, that little non-profit with the big job of training volunteers to speak in the best interest of children who, usually because of neglect or abuse, have entered the court system.

If you or your employer is interested in helping kids have a better start in life, please join with the NASLC, and our presenting sponsor AT&T, by supporting the 2009 tournament. Sponsorship information is available here. The sponsors featured on our website will hopefully continue their sponsorships at their current or greater levels, but there is plenty of need and benefit for additional sponsors at all levels. If you want to pick a side and join in the golf, please click here for that information.

Please contact the Tournament Director, Evan Vutsinas, to express your interest in sponsoring or playing in the ’09 tournament. Contact Evan by e-mail by clicking here or call him at 615-319-6838. We're requesting commitments now (January through June), but sponsorship payments are not expected until July 2009.

Tournament to Benefit CASA, Inc. of Nashville

Jane Andrews
Executive Director

In 2009, CASA, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Nashville celebrates its 25th year of providing court advocacy services to abused and neglected children in Davidson County. We’re excited to partner for the second year with the Nashville ACC-SEC Leadership Council in its 2009 Alumni Golf Tournament. This event benefits our agency in many ways. The money generated makes it possible for more CASA volunteers to help at-risk children in Davidson County find safety
in permanent homes. The event increases community awareness about CASA and the important work volunteers do with this most vulnerable population of children. And it provides recruitment opportunities for new CASA volunteers from tournament organizers and participants.

CASA volunters work with children who have been abandoned, lose their family, or are trapped in a family that mistreats or neglects them. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe environment. CASA volunteers work to ensure the children they serve get to do just that. Thank you for becoming a CASA supporter through your participation with the ACC-SEC Golf Tournament in 2009. The children also thank you.
